Matcha Holiday Bark
Looking to make a fun holiday treat or a last minute gift? Holiday Matcha Bark to the rescue!
This easy 2-ingredient recipe (plus toppings!) is your new holiday go-to. We use white chocolate chips as the base, providing a sweetness and color to complement the vibrant green of our Organic matcha powder. We top it all off with red and white fruits to signify the holiday season, for a bright & cheery treat you’ll make year after year.
RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS: Matcha Holiday Bark
Total Prep Time: About 10 minutes (plus 30 to cool)
Servings: 12-16
INGREDIENTS
- 1 bag white chocolate chips (10-12 ounces)
- 1-2 teaspoons Sencha Naturals Organic Matcha Powder
-
Toppings: dried cranberries, goji berries, coconut flakes
DIRECTIONS
-
Lay out parchment paper on a cookie sheet and set aside.
-
In the microwave or stove-top double boiler, melt the chocolate chips, stirring continuously until well melted and no clumps remain (see notes).
-
Turn the heat off (or remove from microwave), and pour a few tablespoons of melted white chocolate into a small bowl and set aside.
-
Using a hand-sifter or small sieve, sift matcha powder into the melted chocolate and stir until thoroughly combined. (The sifter helps to prevent clumping.)
-
Pour the matcha chocolate mixture onto the parchment paper and spread out with a spatula to desired thickness.
- Pour the remaining white chocolate on top of the spread, and use a toothpick to create a marbled swirl design.
- Top with dried cranberries, goji berries, and coconut flakes (the colors mimic red & green holiday colors, as well as snow!). Place in freezer to set for about 30 mins. Slice into bark pieces and enjoy!
NOTES:
DIY Double Boiler: Fill the bottom of a saucepan with water (about 1 inch), bring to a boil, and rest a larger glass/metal bowl on top, not touching the water, but trapping in steam. Melt the chocolate chips in the bowl, stirring constantly.
Chocolate chips: Only white chocolate is recommended to obtain green bark, as milk or dark chocolates will create a muddy color.
Matcha: Use 1 teaspoon for a lighter green color, or 2 teaspoons for a more vibrant color and more savory green tea flavor.
Add-Ons: Feel free to add dried cherries or small bits of nuts (roasted almonds, walnuts) onto your bark.
Gifts: If giving as a gift, insert bark pieces into holiday tins, or wrap in individual plastic baggies tied with festive ribbon.
